We are current accepting new clients for our Weight Loss Support Group, our
Coping Skills and Support Group, and our Women's Wellness Group.

Counseling is the process in which therapists help clients come to a better understanding of themselves, as well as the situations or issues with which clients are struggling. Our goal is to assist you on the journey of self-exploration and so that you might come to whatever resolution is needed. In addition to gaining understanding and a resolution, the aim of counseling is to help you learn skills that will enable you to cope successfully with future challenges in life without the intervention of a therapist. We will focus on your physical and social needs in addition to emotional issues that brought you into counseling, since we believe that a holistic approach offers the greatest benefit. Our approach is active, warm, thorough, and compassionate. We believe that therapy works best when you feel as relaxed as possible. Although the length of time that clients participate in counseling varies with each person, we will work together to create the most effective treatment program to meet all of your needs in shortest amount of time possible.

We feel that it is important to point out some things that do not define counseling. Counseling is not a miracle cure for life's difficulties, nor does it provide quick and easy answers or solutions. Change takes time and effort, and counseling is a process of exploring choices and options. Counseling is not judgmental or critical. The counseling relationship is a collaborative process between you and our staff, rather than a hierarchical one. You will be encouraged to express personal feelings and thoughts in an open and caring environment.

In gaining experience as therapists we have worked with a variety of clients, ranging from children in the school setting to adults with serious mental illness. We have focused most of our practice on working with clients with mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, some type of trauma and dissociative disorders, as well as couples and family counseling. We help parents work on improving their parenting skills, and help families improve the way they function. Our staff has extensive experience in substance abuse treatment.

Counseling is useful for every type of challenge in people’s lives, ranging from adjustment or relationship issues to mental illness, although in some cases medications are a recommended part of successful treatment.
